You may ask why since the Government restrictions are relaxed as of 4th July but the keyword is relaxed and not removed!
The primary aim of the Management Committee is to ensure the long-term viability of the Club so at this stage due to the current operating restrictions for the hospitality trade we have decided to delay our re-opening until at least 6th August. This date is very much dependant on the visibility of further relaxation of the restrictions to allow the club to operate closer to pre-COVID-19 conditions in September.
To explain further the Club’s income is from a mixture of social drinking, room hire for business and functions, entertainment events, and the Sports Bar (darts, snooker & broadcasting of live sport) but after we were forced to close in late March our income went to Zero.
To date, we’ve been able to control our financial resources by mothballing the Club, negotiating suspension of supplier contracts, and with government support. So when we then take into account the re-opening restrictions such as limited capacity, no live music, and any broadcast sound to be kept low it is clear that our potential income would be significantly impacted and at this stage would not be sufficient to cover the increased operating cost on re-opening.
Furthermore, it should also be noted that we only have one opportunity to reopen, if we opened too soon and a second peak meant closure then the financial impact would result in the permanent closure of the Club.
We hope you understand this decision and will bear with us whilst we prepare for re-opening. We’ll keep you informed during July as we prepare by training our staff, deep cleaning, installation of additional hygiene equipment, and re-stocking. Looking forward to welcoming you back soon.
